OUR MISSION AT OPEN HANDS PRESCHOOL IS TO CREATE A SAFE, FUN, AND LOVING ENVIRONMENT FOR PRESCHOOL CHILDREN TO LEARN AND GROW. CHILDREN WILL BE ABLE TO EXPLORE THEIR CREATIVITY AND NURTURE THEIR SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT SKILLS WHILE LEARNING ABOUT JESUS. WE STRIVE TO PROVIDE A PLAY-BASED LEARNING SPACE WHERE EACH CHILD FEELS VALUED, RESPECTED, LOVED, AND IS WELCOMED WITH OPEN HANDS.

About the Owners and the Heart Behind OHP

Meet the owner and director of Open Hands Preschool. 
Jeremy and Ashlee Martinez
Jeremy and Ashlee have been married 9 years (together for 11 years) and have 3 children (5, 3 and 7 months). 
Jeremy is a Sales Pro for BSN Sports. He graduated from Angelo State University with his degree in accounting. It was at ASU where he met his wife, Ashlee. Jeremy loves all things math and numbers. He grew up in a small town outside San Angelo and loved being able to work alongside his dad doing all kinds of jobs. Jeremy has a heart for Jesus and people and has never met a stranger. 
Ashlee graduated from ASU with her bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education. Ashlee is a certified teacher in the state of Texas. She is certified Early Childhood-6th grade all subjects and Early Childhood - 12th grade Special Education. Ashlee taught 4 years in public schools (5th and 3rd grade), one year with an online overseas academy teaching English, one year at Prek and then the last four years she was the director of a local Mother’s Day Out Preschool. Ashlee was called into education at the age of 5 sitting in her kindergarten classroom, and that calling has grown more and more. 
During her years as the director, God laid it on her heart to reach more families in Mineral Wells by opening a preschool in town. She sat on this dream for a couple years. In December of 2022 after praying a lot, Jeremy and Ashlee began looking for the right building to start this dream. 
Jeremy and Ashlee have always tried to make God the center of what they do. They love Jesus and want to share the love of Christ with those they meet. They pray that with this new preschool they can reach more families in the area; while also helping preschool aged children meet their developmental milestones. 
In the town of Mineral Wells there are only 4 full time daycares and 1 MDO program. There are approximately over 1,100 preschool aged children. The need for another childcare facility was apparent. The Martinez’s goal is to never put out of business another organization. Their prayer is that all the local childcare facilities can work together and really reach the town in a positive way. 
With Jeremy’s business mindset he will be the owner of Open Hands and be on the board as the owner and financial advisor. With Ashlee’s education background she will be the director of the preschool and sit on the board as well.
